One of my summer pleasures is to read a Dorothea Benton Frank story while on vacation. Frank's books are usually just witty, frothy and interesting enough to keep me occupied between naps by the water. I was looking forward to this read on my annual holiday. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with the latest offering from one of my favourite authors. Perhaps there was just not enough of that Southern charm that usually defines Dorothea Benton Frank's writing. In this book she detours from the Low Country to a posh Caribbean island and a massive yacht motoring off the coast of Spain, and peoples the book with ill defined, whiny characters with whom I could just not connect. Unfortunately, this is a very disappointing book, not nearly as entertaining as the author's previous offerings.
