Glad to finally view this classic, which turned a spotlight on the under-publicized sport of track/running and the energies for winning--is it calculated science or heart-based faith? Or both? Starting its story arc in the post-WW I U.K., It's a rather old-fashioned look at the Cambridge/elite public schools of the U.K. and two runners for the college who, by virtue of culture/religion, don't quite fit in. One is a proud, deeply Christian Scot, the other a Jew who notices (and fights back against) the anti-Semitism still occurring. Filmed in the late 70s, don't expect whiz bang technology effects or a fast pace. Hilarious "interviews" with the Prince of Wales and the Christian runner; the prince drawls out his words in entitled ease and gets outwitted by one of his own class, and with the Masters of Cambridge, who attempt to stop the Jewish runner from using the non-sporting tactic of a professional coach.
