This is an excellent oral history composed of many short stories. They are the stories of Canadian men and women who lived at that time. It is not about the generals or the politicians, the battles or the treaties, though any of these might be brought up in the tales. It is about ordinary lives lived in stressful, often stupid times. It is painful, funny, eye-opening, and infinitely worth reading if you care about people, Canada, history, your own family, .... I maunder on here; read the book!
