I am Lou Brown: social outcast, precocious failure, 5'10 and still growing. I was on the fast track to the Olympic superstardom. Now, I'm training boys too cool to talk to me. In a sport I just made up. In a fish tank. My life has quickly become very weird.

For a book that opens with a life-altering, depression-inducing failure, this ends up being a whole lot of snarky, larky fun. It has excellent humor throughout and a few most unexpected, outrageous adventures, with enough seriousness to give it weight and some nicely drawn characters who grow. Most enjoyable.

The characters of the story were really interesting but I felt the pacing was a bit slow. They are teenagers so they might be relate able to some but for me I felt they just exaggerated the stereotypical feelings of a teenager. The books also refers to modern slang and language. The main character goes through very real and expected emotions. She doesn't deal with it like some amazing person but rather as just a normal teenager. The actually conflict or problem of the story wasn't really that exciting but what you're probably gonna look forward to reading is the dialogue of the characters. The characters really stood out for me and kept me from dropping this book.

I would give this book 4 out of 5 stars. ☺

New things always look weird to begin with. Imagine being the first monkey who grew a thumb. No one realized how useful that was going to be. They probably all ran around yelling, "Look at Clive's hand! It's icky, hit it with a rock!" Thousands of years later, we're texting with it and Clive has the last laugh.

It's a sign of an "interesting" life when you wake up in the hospital so regularly that you can guess where you are with your eyes closed.
