Freddy is autistic and he is seven years old when his mother abandons him and his father moves him across the town, enrols him in a different school, and takes him away from little Saskia, the only friend he's ever had. Funny, sad and heartbreaking all at the same time. Do you think this is strange grabbed me from the first page and refused to let go until the last page. The depiction of the autistic mind and it's thought processes was authentic and made me cheer for Freddy as he navigated his way through his school years trying to make sense of the people and the situations that he found himself in.
I loved that Aaron Cully Drake created a strong character for Freddy and that we got to see the world through his eyes.
