Perfect sequal to the Amulet of Samarkand, and a great addition to one of the best young adult fantasy trilogies out there.

Good book. Not as good as the first book though still good

Although overshadowed by its prequel, it is a good follow up to the first one and sets the scene for the series' conclusion. However it was dragging at some parts.

This book was pretty good! It was no where as good as the first book (the amulet of samarakand) but it was still really really good!!! it's a bit hard to get into, but it's complex plot is brilliant!

This isn't exactly science fiction so much as fantasy in my opinion, so if you are going to turn it down expecting lazers and spaceships its not like that. It's one of my favorite books, Bartimaeus is awesome and witty! I don't mean to shoot down your comment Claire, but I disagree.
