Jane has the kind of selflessness that everyone looks for in a friend. Lately the perennial bridesmaid has begun to feel as if something is missing in her life. Kevin is a local newspaper reporter who spots Jane racing between two receptions-- one in Manhattan and the other in Brooklyn. He quickly surmises that her quirky tale may be just the story to get him into the big leagues. Jane butts heads with Kevin just as her younger sister, Tess, shows up in town. Now, Jane is prompted to reevaluate her priorities when her boss-- with whom she is secretly in love-- falls for her younger sister. As the bride-to-be makes plans to marry, she mistakenly assumes Jane will be happy to take part in the wedding. Jane finally comes to terms with her true feelings and her life begins to change in ways she never expected.

Cute, lightweight movie about the classic over-achiever who fails to put herself first and the consequences. In some ways this is the stereotypical uptight person meets free spirit. However, the free-spirited writer, who initially sees a lucrative story to exploit, winds up undergoing his own journey in changing. Get ready for lots of hokey dresses.

I was surprised that I ended up really liking this. Thought it was going to be really dumb after the bad rep Katherine Heigl got for a while, but it's worth seeing I think. Made me laugh and cry and it was fun.

A predictable movie that is still really cute no matter how many times you watch it. Fun and will make you want to sing Bennie and the Jets. :)

Considering the fact that they fully embrace their status as genre fare, it's not really the most insightful criticism to call rom-coms like this “formulaic and predictable." And honestly, this one moves right along, Heigl displays her usual impeccable comic timing, and the script was pretty funny--overall one of the better ones if you are into this kind of thing.

If you’re looking for a good romantic comedy to watch, I really recommend 27 dresses. This movie follows the adventures of Jane, who has been a constant bridesmaid. She is fun; loving, and kind- she is the perfect friend. Jane has made the effort to exempt the word “no” from her vocabulary, and plans weddings for her friends, with no charge. She has also been working as an assistant manager to the CEO of an environmentally friendly clothing and outdoor equipment company. Even though she works as a wedding planner almost all the time, she doesn’t quite her daytime job because she develops a massive crush on her CEO, George, but he is too blind to notice her feelings. Her sister, Tess, comes into town and soon George and Tess fall in love. Jane is annoyed and hurt, and doesn’t know what to do. As life becomes harder for Jane, a man she met at a wedding, named Kevin Doyle, won’t leave her alone because he is curious about her. This movie will show how Jane feels while she thinks her life is spiraling down.
This movie was fun, dramatic, and hilarious all at the same time! Katherine Heigl did a very good job at portraying her character Jane. If I had to rate this movie, I would give it an eight out of ten stars. Overall, it was an amazing movie, but at times I found myself not paying attention to the movie. I felt that some scenes were dragged out, and some of the scenes were very cliché. Half way through the movie, I knew how it was going to end, but there were some scenes that were very unexpected. I would definitely watch this movie a second time, and if you are looking for a classic romantic comedy, then pick up 27 dresses!

Going into this I was expecting just another pointless chick flick, but found it to be quite fun. This would make a good date night movie that can be enjoyed by all. I would recommend this to fans of off-beat romantic comedies.

favorite part: first wedding scenes that cut back and forth between 2 different simultaneous weddings...lots of cliches...also liked the use of the 27 dresses and closing credits at the end...otherwise can't believe i watched the whole thing

Jane: Yeah. Yeah, but he has flaws. He does. He is *flawed*.
Tess: hmm?
Jane: Yeah. He hates cashews. Which is weird. And sometimes he wears shoes without socks. Which I think is just gross.
Tess: Jane, those aren't exactly deal breakers.

Jane: [after spending a drunken night with Kevin] I just want you to know, I never do this.
Kevin: Oh, I know.
Jane: No, really. I never, never do this.
Kevin: No, really, I know. Last night, you kept saying it over and over again: "I never do this", "I *never* do this", "I never *do* this"...
Jane: Okay. I just wanted you to know.

Sexual Content: Kevin and Jane have an apparent sexual encounter in a Volvo when they get stuck in a rainstorm. They kiss passionately and try to take off one another's clothes as they tumble into the back seat. They kiss at other times during the film, too, as do George and Jane.

Coarse Language: Nearly 10 s-words and an unhealthy smattering of milder cusswords, including "a--" and "b--ch," are stirred into the stew. (After listening to one bride swearing up a storm, Jane—as a little girl—assures her it's OK. "We have cable," she says confidently.)
