Boy Kings of Texas

Boy Kings of Texas

A Memoir

eBook - 2012
Average Rating:
Rate this:
A lyrical and authentic book that recounts the story of a border-town family in Brownsville, Texas in the 1980's, as each member of the family desperately tries to assimilate and escape life on the border to become "real" Americans, even at the expense of their shared family history. This is really un-mined territory in the memoir genre that gives in-depth insight into a previously unexplored corner of America.

I enjoyed reading this book although sometimes it seemed similiar to listening to a long winded story. I did think of stopping but then I cared about what that pretty much says: " A good book."

I know of this area because I would visit there...........and I saw prejudice towards Hispanics which made me sad.

This was an insight into a Hispanic family who lived in this area but to just say that minimizes....that this book tells quite a story full of very interesting people who I am glad I met through reading this.
