Excellent historical fiction!

This is a wonderful historical mystery/thriller set in New York during the 1778 American War of Independence.

I found that I was drawn into the story immediately and I loved the atmosphere that Andrew Taylor portrayed perfectly. I liked Edward Savill as the main character - he was an upright and likeable person who cared for children and knew his cowardice.

Even though I was pretty sure of the ending when I was only 1/2 through the book, I still thoroughly enjoyed this excellent novel. I highly recommend it.

Andrew Taylor succeeded in writing a living/breathing story of an incident and family during the US War of Independence.
