California Bureau of Investigation consultant Patrick Jane has a blatant lack of protocol but is self-assured and driven. The former 'psychic' uses his talent for seeing the clues everyone else misses to solve the most baffling crimes. But there's more than crime that makes this season a must-see: Lisbon and Cho reveal hints about their troubled pasts. Violence fells one CBI boss, and the new boss seems more interested in authority than teamwork.

Simon Baker continues to charm us with his quirkiness, wit and dashing good looks while solving cases. Other actors have gelled and look more comfortable in their roles. Storylines are interesting and well-written with a nice combination of suspense, romance and humor all done tastefully and intelligently...Love the one-liners and Cho's deadpan humor.

Having seen 4 of the 6 1/2 seasons, this season on the whole is one of my favorites.

Excellent! See my informative review for the First Season:

I really wish that there wasn't any scratches on the dvds and for the most part, there weren't. This one was better than the first season in terms of the quality because I actually got to see the season finale. I still haven't watched the first season's finale because the dvd had so many scratches, it wouldn't play. :( I like the bonus features on this one, where we get to see more insight on what it means to be a mentalist. And of course, the show itself is great.

The Mentalist is a genious show. It's not overdone like most crime shows with all the gore, swearing, innapropriateness. Very comical but still has an edge of seriousness in it. Patrick Jane is an awesome character, and can be compared to William Murdoch from Murdoch Mysteries. Both are smart, and have very good intuitions. All the characters in The Mentalist are woven in very intricate stories, and all come from different backgrounds. Highly recommended for fans of crime shows that have humour, mystery, excitement, romance, and even sad moments.
