A secret government unit is formed under the oversight of Adam Harrison, the famed paranormal investigator. The six members each have a psychic talent of their own. The case: in a historic mansion in New Orleans' French Quarter, a senator's wife falls to her death from a balcony. Most think she jumped, distraught over the loss of her young son. Some say she was pushed. And yet others believe she was beckoned by the ghostly spirits that inhabit the house, once the site of a serial killer's grisly work.

I love reading Heather Graham. This book was intriguing but did not keep me as riveted as her other books.

I wasn't sure how much I would enjoy this one, but I ended up really liking it. It's the first book in Graham's Krewe of Hunters series, and it focuses on a paranormal investigation team as they try to uncover the mystery of an old house in New Orleans that was previously the site of a serial killer's grisly crimes.

The paranormal aspect was very well done. It was very creepy and chilling, but it wasn't just all about ghosts and spirits. Sometimes I have a hard time getting into paranormal stuff because it can get corny or ridiculous, but Graham struck a good balance between creepy ghost material and more real dangers (such as the threats posed by the Aryan group and the cult). Graham also vividly evoked modern (and post-Katrina) New Orleans as the backdrop for the book. I'm definitely interested in picking up more of this series.

This book was pretty entertaining. It is a LOT better than two of her other books I've read. Liked the paranormal twist.
