"It's a classic for a reason. If you love the movie but have never read the book, what are you waiting for?! The book is different enough from the movie where you are still on the edge of your seat for the entire read." - Andrea B.

Having grown up with the original films, I had gotten used to the plot of visiting the island, and the park going sideways. However, the book turned out to be far different than I expected, and as a result, ended up being a pretty…

I think my favorite thing about this book is how tangible the science behind everything is. While the overall story was good I found myself enjoying the beginning more, the story of how Hammond came to create the titular Park and how the…

Because sometimes you just need a bunch of scientists being chased around by dinosaurs. Nobody did “experts in various scientific fields explaining interesting concepts and finding themselves in dire peril” better than Crichton, and this…

This is VERY different from the film. I can see where writers returned and got ideas from the book for scenes and later films.

Plot or Premise A rich industrialist with a vision creates a safari park on a secluded island for tourists, where the main attraction will be dinosaurs brought back to life through advanced DNA sequencing. What I Liked It's a bit hard to…

Malcolm sighed. "Do you have any idea," he said, "how unlikely it is that you, or any of us, "will get off this island alive?" Michael Chrichton was already a bestselling author when he published "Jurassic Park" in 1990. But none of his…

Much superior to the movie. Some of the science has been shown to be wrong, but the characters in this book are more three dimensional and believable than the movie

Very good book. Expertly written. Lots of details and you won’t get bored of it.

Utilizing dinosaur DNA trapped in amber, a group of people develop cloned dinosaurs to exhibit in an amusement park called Jurassic Park. However, their plan goes astray; dinosaurs start to breed and large quantities of them escape to…

I love the movie and I love the book, but they should almost be viewed as two separate works. The book is much darker (in a good way) and much more realistic (considering the subject matter). Highly recommend this, I will read it again.

So much better than the movie. From start to finish. I'm sorry I waited so long to read this.

"On an island called Jurassic park, artificially created dinosaurs roam the land. The creators of the park try to figure out the safety of the island for visitors and many theories suggest it to be dangerous. The conditions only worsen as…

I've seen the movies many times and have always intended to read the book that started it all. The book has scenes and dialog that make the story much richer. The movie is close to the book but scenes are combined and characters are…

The novel starts quite strong only to completely crumble apart in the final act. I'm not mad at Mr. Crichton, I'm just disappointed.

Written in 1990 as a cautionary tale against genetic engineering by author Michael Critchon, Jurassic Park details the collapse of a dinosaur amusement park used as an example of chaos theory and the dangers of overstepping boundaries.…

As a person who has grown up watching the Jurassic Park movies for so long, I can confirm that this is a chilling topic to read about. Ever since I was younger the movies scared me, and I remember being scared of going into the basement…

Such a good action packed book. After watching the movie for years it was finally time to read the novel and it did not disappoint! I definitely cringed during some scenes in the book, so good!

Everything I look for in a book- high stakes, fast-paced adventure and a vivid, other-worldly setting to escape into.

Honestly, I prefer the movie! An entertaining read, but it gets too caught up with the science.

And I thought the movie was amazing. Crichton paints a perfect picture in the mind’s eye of his dinosaurs, and captures his characters in ways that are more in-depth-and sometimes a little darker-than the movie. Throughout the course of…

I was 10 when I first read this. Finished in 4 days. It first gave me nightmares (because that’s how irrational 10-year-old brains work), but I still loved the book. Eventually the nightmares went away. I recommend at least 12 years of age…
